Volunteers
“Thanks” is not enough to express our gratitude to the many volunteers that contributed their time and energy to the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts during the 2009 LA County Fair in support of the exhibition, The Making of Art: The First 30,000 Years. Our programs would not have been as successful without their invaluable help. Our volunteer docents led school children on scavenger hunts through the gallery, enticing them to look carefully at the art to find subtleties in composition and color. In the hands-on workshop, students were able to create their own horse using natural materials like twigs and corn husks, or corks and toothpicks or they used wire to create a unique wire sculpture. The enrichment brought to our exhibitions by these volunteers is immeasurable, and so is our appreciation for their efforts.
We are again looking for volunteers this year to help with the 2010 LA County Fair exhibition, From the Industrial Age to the Computer Age: Three Centuries of Artistic Innovation. We provide training so that you will be comfortable and prepared to work with the students.
During this event, we will have opportunities for:
- School Tour Docents
- Workshop Docents
- Clerical Assistants (mailings, general office duties)
- Hosts and Greeters
