WHAT: The L.A. County Fair marks its 90th anniversary with an astounding assortment of exciting exhibits plus everyone’s classic favorites. The Fair runs Aug. 31 – Sept. 30.
Take a walk down memory lane at the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts’ Art & Fair: A 90-Year Celebration and relive some of the Fair’s greatest moments, such as Shirley Temple’s trip in 1935.
Stop by Genius – A Celebration of American Innovation and experience a fun and dynamic expo of creativity and ingenuity, while being introduced to nearly 50 significant innovators and inventors. See a replica of George Washington Carver’s classroom on wheels, original Thomas Edison artifacts, façades of the actual shops and buildings in Philadelphia where Benjamin Franklin lived, original Model Ts from Henry Ford and much more.
Have you ever had the urge to dance on a giant keyboard like Tom Hanks in “Big” or pose like the Beatles on Abbey Road? Here’s your chance. Rock of Ages takes guests through three distinct music experiences: The Studio Experience, The Concert Experience and The Playing Experience. View the album cover art gallery and take a picture surfing a record wave, ogle one of Michael Jackson’s infamous gloves, or strum along to a tune at the Fender guitar stations.
Dive into fun at Stingray Island. This 17,000-gallon enclosure features an 8 ft. waterfall, stingrays, sharks, octopus, eels and more with marine biologists answering any questions about these mystical creatures.
Zip into the great outdoors – literally, on a zip line - and explore the beauty of Mother Nature at Wilderness Ridge. The whole family can learn lumberjill skills from the Axe Women Loggers of Maine, attend Log Rolling School and venture to Grizzly Falls to meet the Fair’s furry friends – bears!
Meet Mojo, our Capuchin monkey and your official guide into Mojo’s African Safari! She will guide you through the African terrain and introduce you to her friends including zebras, a capybara, a coatimundi, African porcupines, snakes, lizards and more while listening to the music of a steel drum band!
Other fan favorites include the Carnival with more than 70 exciting rides; FairView Farms and Zuckerman’s Nursery; Esmeralda’s Traveling Circus with a trapeze aerial act, as well as wine-tasting at the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Marketplace.
