Barretts Sales & Racing’s March 2-year-old sale hits the numbers
Pomona, CA – March 5, 2013 – Barretts Sales & Racing welcomed its 24th annual March Sale of Selected 2-year-olds in Training March 4 with resounding successes and impressive growth in all areas.
Total sales were $8,751,000 with a whopping 33% increase in average price and 18% increase in median price. A Malibu Moon colt was the sales topper at $675,000; when combined with 10 horses selling for $250,000 or more, that boosted the median price to $100,000 from $85,000 in 2012.
This was the first major 2-year-olds in training sale of the year. It followed the announcement in February of Barretts rebranding to Barretts Sales & Racing.
General Manager Kim Lloyd said of Monday’s event, “The sale was very strong from the start with great energy and momentum. We look forward to carrying that right through to the May sale.”
Barretts, the premier auction facility on the West Coast, will conduct its May Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, Monday, May 13.
