Guests at the L.A. County Fair, one of the largest county fairs in the world and Southern California’s one-stop destination for end-of-summer fun, can enjoy the 75th season of live thoroughbred horse racing beginning Friday, Sept. 6 at Barretts Race Meet at Fairplex.
The horses are ready, along with a competitive jockey colony, for 13 days of racing, 12 stakes races and $775,000 in purses through Sept. 22. Admission to horse racing is free with L.A. County Fair admission along with free access to the Clubhouse where guests can watch replays on the video screen and make a reservation for dinner at Top of the Park restaurant. Post time is 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 1 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays. Mondays and Tuesdays are dark. A number of promotions provide fun and excitement for race fans.
Get away from it all for a Day at the Races with family and friends at Barretts Race Meet. Groups of 10 or more can enjoy a fun-filled experience that includes Fair admission, lunch buffet and group photo in the Winner’s Circle starting at just $37 a person. Special packages are available for larger groups, just call (909) 865-4094 or visit Day at the Races for more info.
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the L.A. County Fair continues its strong commitment to support local communities with Day for Heroes. All active and retired military, reserves, police, fire and paramedics with ID, along with a guest, can attend the Fair for just $1 each on this day. Proceeds from the $1 admissions will go directly to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the major source of private financial support for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The LAFD Foundation supports the fire department’s 3,586 uniformed personnel and 353 non-sworn professionals with vital equipment and training. The LAFD Foundation will also be participating in the community parade, taking place at noon.
