The area is accessible with an electronic key from Gate 19 on Fairplex Drive and is the site of Fairplex RV and Boat Storage, convenient, secure and ideal for nearby residents and community members. Stores 380 units in 12x40 spaces, operated by Fairplex KOA RV Park. The location of the RV and Boat Storage has been known as Sunshine Hill.
The historic train exhibit is located near the Gate 17 entrance. It is the only place in the world to see both the largest steam engine and the largest diesel locomotive ever to ride the rails. The Union Pacificís 594-ton Big Boy 4014 steam-powered engine shares the spotlight with the Union Pacific Centennial DD40X diesel-powered locomotive, which measures nearly 100 feet in length. The trains have been used in film shoots and featured in films and a variety of programs.
International Wine & Spirits Marketplace
This building was constructed in 1952 and provides a great setting for the award-winning presentations, tasting of winning olive oils, wines and spirits along with a gift shop and dining. Can accommodate a large number of attendees with both indoor and outdoor functions, used throughout the year.
Flower & Garden Pavilion
Constructed in 1952, neon lighting at the top of the dramatic domed roof announces Flower and Garden, and the historic and memorable interior greets guests. The building features a 14,000 square foot atrium, 14,000 square foot wine pavilion and 13,400 square foot center building. Can be utilized indoors and out with a beautiful hillside in back and a huge 8,000 square foot patio in front. Used extensively at Fairtime and year-round for a variety of events.
The area is called Enchanted Garden during the Fair and is themed as part of the Flower & Garden Pavilion. During the year area complements Picnic Hill and the surrounding area. It is grassy, hilly and features level areas at the top for stands or exhibits.
Picnic Hill is a great meeting place for special occasions, dinners, barbecues, weddings and receptions. It offers a birds-eye view of the property from on high.Renovations are underway to expand facilities on Picnic Hill.
Open space leading into the Flower & Garden Pavilion, near the historic trains and available for multi-use functions.
Home of Tribute to Freedom, dedicated in 2002, and located at the base of Picnic Hill; this is an area of natural beauty in a tranquil setting. During the Fair the lagoon is filled with water and multiple fountains are operating. Grass is to the side of the area, a low block wall is facing the lagoon and there is asphalt on all sides. The area has large trees and is shaded.
Renovated and used year-round for receptions, meetings, dinners and gatherings; during the Fair for full-service dining and buffet both indoors and outdoors on the inviting patio.
Broadway is one of two major thoroughfares leading to areas west, northwest and southwest.
