JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION TO BE HELD EARLIER AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR
The selling of prize-winning livestock raised by 4-H members, Future Farmers of America and college students will continue as tradition at the L.A. County Fair, but it will be held a week earlier than usual to coincide with the junior livestock competition, which has moved to the first leg of the Fair’s Sept. 8 – Oct. 1 run. The annual auction is slated for 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Hinds Pavilion and serves as the culminating event for the market livestock judging. The public is invited to participate.

2006 END OF SUMMER CONCERT SERIES TO ROCK L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Summer may be ending but Southern California’s best concert series is just beginning. It’s the L.A. County Fair’s End of Summer Concert Series, presented by Toyota, featuring an all-star lineup of favorite artists live and under the stars. Once again, with the Fair’s expanded dates – Sept. 8-Oct. 1 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) – the concert series has 15 rockin’ evenings at the nation’s largest and greatest county fair.

They’ve been coming around the final turn and heading for home for 67 years. Come Sept. 8, the distinctive sound of the opening of the starting gate will resonate and the 68th season of L.A. County Fair live horse racing will commence.

A LOT OF HORSIN AROUND PLANNED FOR THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Though the L.A. County Fair is well-known for its sport of kings when it comes to horses, there is a separate equine world from the racetrack at the annual Fair. Four major horse shows will be held in several arenas during the 18-day Fair, which runs Sept. 8 – Oct. 1 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays), offering the public the opportunity to see different breeds as well as horsemen and -women performing a variety of riding skills.

TOYOTA TAKES THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR ON THE ROAD
Toyota, one of the top car manufacturers in the world and the official vehicle of Fairplex and the 2006 L.A. County Fair, is taking the Fair on the road this week. Two Toyota Land Cruisers and a Toyota Sequoia were wrapped in bright orange with the Fair’s 2006 theme, The Fair is Where.

KABOOM! A POP ABOVE
KABOOM! Fairplex’s 4th of July fireworks spectacular is a dramatic display of pyrotechnics presented by industry leader Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto, perfectly choreographed to patriotic music in a moving tribute celebrating Independence Day. The fireworks finale, however, is preceded by a couple of significant elements that gives this show a leg up, a resounding pop above the rest.
