2005 KABOOM WILL CLOSE WHITE AVENUE

A portion of White Avenue in Pomona will be closed to traffic beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m. during KABOOM!, the Fairplex Fourth of July fireworks spectacular on Monday, July 4.  KABOOM! is presented by Coca-Cola, Budweiser Select and the City of Pomona with special thanks to Ontario International Airport and M.K. Smith Chevrolet.

CUTE CRITTERS SURE TO ENTICE ANIMAL LOVERS

Calling all animal lovers – FairView Farms is the place to see horses, pigs, cows, sheep, chickens and many more furry and feathered friends.  The animals will take over the L.A. County Fair, which runs Sept. 9 – Oct.2, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred horse racing returns Sept. 9-26, closed on Tuesdays only.

ADOPT AN ANIMAL AT THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR - BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS CAN PURCHASE BANNERS

What better way to promote a business or organization than with the smiling face of a pig? Or how about an inquisitive cow or precious lamb? Or a donkey whose expression indicates he knows something great is coming our way. And it is – the L.A. County Fair will be here in three short months. The Fair’s street banner program offers a great opportunity for businesses, organizations and individuals to advertise their name on a Fair banner.

FAIRTIME MEANS LIVE HORSE RACING

The L.A. County Fair and horse racing have complemented each other since 1922 when harness racing was the bill of fare. Now, it’s a 16-day meeting with Thoroughbreds, quarter horses, mules and 17 stakes races with purses totaling more than $1.1 million. There is $4 million in prize money overall. Racing dates are Sept. 9-26. This is the first time that there will be a break in the racing action when the track is closed on Tuesdays only and the final day of racing will be on a Monday, instead of the traditional Sunday closing.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION DIRECTOR EMERITUS DIES

The Los Angeles County Fair Association is saddened by the death of longtime association member Donald R. DesCombes on May 23.  He celebrated his 73rd birthday on May 7.

BRING ON THE MONSTERS

The crowd loves them and Fairplex has them. Monster trucks, monster freestyle motocross extreme and monster fireworks presented by the monster fireworks company in the country, Pyro Spectaculars, presenters of Olympic events, all return in winning form for KABOOM! Fairplex’s 4th of July Fireworks extravaganza on Monday, July 4.

PINOT NOIR WINS BIG AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR WINE COMPETITION

The popularity of pinot noir continues as Cambria Winery took top honors at the 66th annual L.A. County Fair Wines of the World competition. Cambria Winery, Pinot Noir, Bench Break Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley, 2001 took the best wine of the competition award from 3,936 domestic and international entries from 1,003 wineries.

KABOOM! FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

It’s the 19th annual fireworks spectacular at Fairplex. Fireworks, monster trucks, motoX extreme get the crowd cheering and then the fireworks are the finale The nighttime programming is a crowd pleaser and has played to a sold-out audience since its inception in 2002.

FAIRPLEXS KABOOM! 19 YEARS OF PATRIOTISM AND FUN

KABOOM! changed its format in 2002 and has been a sold-out house ever since. This year the monster trucks, monster big air freestyle motocross daredevils and, of course, the spectacular fireworks presented by the premier fireworks company in the country, Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto, return.

A GIANT ANIMAL ENTERTAINMENT AND EDUCATION FESTIVAL

America’s Family Pet Expo, a giant nonprofit animal entertainment and education festival, is coming to Fairplex in Pomona, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 24, 25 and 26.
