OLD ENGLISH RANCHO INDUCTED INTO FAIRPLEX PARK HALL OF FAME
The roots of Old English Rancho began with two farms and a stallion that had been imported into California from England. Around 1939, a young man named Ellwood B. Johnston invested the fortune he made from a successful pie delivery business into Thoroughbred horses.

TAMALE FIESTA TO BE FEATURED AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR
In Pre-Columbian times, around 5000 BC, women would accompany men to battle, working as army cooks. As the battles intensified, the cooks needed to devise a plan to give food a longer shelf life and make it more portable. And so the tamale was born.

SUPERVISOR MOLINA TO PRESENT ANNUAL QUILT AWARD AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Quilting teacher TECLA will be presented the Gloria Molina Special Achievement Award in Quilting Sept. 10, opening day of the 2004 L.A. County Fair, for her dedication and commitment to the art of quilting. The Fair runs Sept. 10-26 at Fairplex.

COMPETITIVE EATINGS FINEST TO CONVERGE IN L.A. FOR WINCHELLS WORLD DONUT-EATING CHAMPIONSHIP
A star-studded lineup of competitive eating champions will converge in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, September 22 for the Winchell’s World Donut Eating Championship. The winner will receive $1,500.00 and the ultra-prestigious title of Winchell’s World Donut Eating Champion. The winner-take-all contest will be held at the Los Angeles County Fair on the Shopping Plaza Stage at 7:30pm.

LOS ANGELES (September 2, 2004) – The second annual LG Action Sports Championships is set to take place September 10 – 12 at Fairplex in Pomona during the LA County Fair. The action-packed event will feature the season’s U.S. Championships for skateboarding and freestyle BMX and the World Championships for aggressive inline skating and freestyle motocross (FMX).
