LIVE BRINGS 16 YEARS OF MUSIC AND FRIENDSHIP TO THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Live, a band that came of age in the early ‘90s, features some of today’s hottest music. The band – Ed Kowalczyk, Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Gracey – are the same four guys who debuted at their middle school talent show. They’ve just released a new album, Birds of Pray, to prove that guitar-based rock can still fire the emotions.

FAIRPLEX WELCOMES INLAND EMPIRE AUTO SHOW
Fairplex rolls out the red carpet for the Inland Empire Auto Show, the newest addition to the Fairplex year-round calendar of events. The show will make its debut on March 30 through April 3, 2005. The 15th annual auto show will highlight more than 35 lines of domestic and foreign vehicles in Fairplex’s exhibition halls.

POULTRY ARE BACK IN THE ANNUAL JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION AT THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Poultry, including turkeys and broiler chickens, will be back on the sale block this year with the other market animals during the Junior Livestock Auction at the 82nd L.A. County Fair, which runs Sept. 10-26. Due to the Newcastle epidemic last year, poultry were not allowed to be sold or exhibited at fairs in California. That ban has been lifted so it will be business as usual during the annual sale, slated for Saturday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m.

WELCOME TO A TRADITION
Back when Millard Sheets was the director of the L.A. County Fair’s Fine Arts building (renamed Millard Sheets Gallery in 1994), a juried competition was open to artists submitting work in a number of mediums. It was called the Contemporary Fine Art Competition. It was an integral part of the exhibition and the Fair during the prestigious Sheets’ years, from 1930-1956. The works submitted were refreshing, diverse and original in style and concept. The positive memories of that competition helped to prompt its revival.

LARRY HULST ROCK N ROLL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT TO BE FEATURED AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Over the past 30 years, Larry Hulst has attended nearly 3,000 concerts, snapping photos along the way. His work has appeared on album jackets and sleeves, and also has been featured in music magazines including Rolling Stone. However, his motivation is primarily pleasure.

CAVALCADE OF HORSES OFFERS FAIRGUESTS A VARIETY OF SHOWS
Many national and international participants will showcase numerous breeds of horses during the L. A. County Fair’s 17 days. Horses will be featured in horse shows and special demonstrations all day and evening at the horse show arena. The Fair runs Sept. 10-26.

2004 L.A. COUNTY FAIRS WINES OF THE WORLD COMPETITION FEATURED ON NPR
The prestigious 2004 L.A. County Fair Wines of the World competition was featured Wednesday, July 8, on National Public Radio, station affiliate KPCC 98.5, in Los Angeles. Kathy Grigsby Bates hosts the daily program titled Day to Day.
