CORNUCOPIA FOODS BRINGS ON NEW EMPLOYEES Cornucopia Foods LLC, a newly created company that will operate concessions, catering and all food and beverage services at Fairplex, has announced several staff members who will manage the company.
LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE FURNITURE DONATION FROM HOTEL Inter-City Volunteers of Pomona Valley, a volunteer program to aid the less fortunate and homeless, received eight floors worth of furniture from the Sheraton Suites Fairplex hotel on Tuesday, enough to help nearly 300 families and individuals. All of the furniture has been disbursed.
EARLY CALL FOR ENTRIES IN FAIRS CREATIVE ARTS EXHIBITION Banana bread, Grandma’s strawberry jam, the family quilt or a knitted vest. Whatever your specialty, the L.A. County Fair is waiting for your entry in its creative arts division. At the east end of the L.A. County Fair all is quiet except for the intermittent sounds of birds chirping and employees driving golf carts. Large barns sit dark and empty casting shadows over the dirt floor. Come Sept. 10, 2004, this spot will come alive with 1.3 million Fairguests. FairView Farms is one of the Fair’s largest and most popular exhibits, providing guests with interactive experiences that highlight the importance of farming and agriculture in our everyday lives. The Fair runs through Sept. 26.
ITS A WRAP This is not your basic gift wrap. On Thursday, May 27, two of the 2004 L.A. County Fair General Motors Yukon SUVs will receive a custom wrap job that will, upon completion, be a traveling four-wheeled, four-color, Fair smile-provoking billboard. As the official vehicle of the L.A. County Fair, the General Motors vehicles will be wrapped and visible before the Fair and prominently displayed during the Fair.

MALOOF EXHIBIT A HUGE SUCCESS On the final day of the Master Woodworker, Sam Maloof: One-Half Century of Woodworking and Design exhibition at the Millard Sheets Gallery, curator Christy Johnson finally had time to sit back and review the past month of having the show at the gallery. She summed it up by relaying the reaction of a group of students who visited the show and participated in a hands-on project of furniture making.

County Fair Wines of the World competition on May 12-14, and the anticipation of earning a gold medal in this most prestigious affair.
FAIRPLEX GARDEN RAILROAD CHUGS ALONG YEAR-ROUND Since 1924, the Fairplex Garden Railroad has chugged its way around bends and curves, through forests and gold mine country, along vineyards and dairies, railing its way through California’s history. It has shared that history with more than 74 million visitors to the L.A. County Fair.
