FAIRPLEX ANNOUNCES STAFF PROMOTIONS

Some Fairplex staff are wearing new hats, taking on some new roles and embracing new responsibilities in job changes that are effective immediately.

Kathy Wadham, Fairplex exhibits manager since 1993, assumes the duties of director of creative development. That position was held by Lisa Girolami who recently returned to the Walt Disney Company.

Wadham has been the creative force behind the diverse, educational and entertaining programming that magically appears each September in a number of areas around the 543-acre panorama including America’s Kids, Eco Now, Winter Wonderland, The Village on Broadway, Dairy Products, Education Expo, Garden Railroad, Flower & Garden Pavilion, FairView Farms, Kountry Kritters, Millard Sheets Center for the Arts, Thunder Alley and more. She now adds brand development, entertainment, fair innovation and reinvention of new business. Wadham resides in La Verne with her husband Alan.

Linda Zammit has been promoted to senior account executive with sponsorship sales. She has been a Fairplex account executive since 2005 and is responsible for securing a number of valued sponsors including Toyota, McDonald’s and Bank of America.

Zammit will continue to attract new sponsors in addition to developing sales resources and collaborative sponsorship opportunities. Expanded and improved programming during the Fair is made possible through the support and participation of sponsors. Zammit resides in Huntington Beach.
Lacy Garcia started at Fairplex as a seasonal employee in 2002, and was
hired full-time in 2004 as a clerk in the commercial sales department. Her new title is now commercial sales administrative assistant. The commercial sales department brings in more than 2,000 retail and commercial exhibits during the run of the 18-day Fair, making it the largest marketplace in the west and subsequently a guest-pleaser. Fair surveys indicate that visitors relish the variety and sheer numbers of available merchandise. Garcia is a Pomona resident.
Plans are underway for the 2008 L.A. County Fair, Sept. 5-28, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Visit
www.fairplex.com for more information about Fairplex and the L.A. County Fair.
