The dulcet tones of classic rock and the intriguing lines of hot rods and Formula One race cars on canvas will further pique the senses of guests at the already sensual Wine & Cars Under the Stars, a benefit event featuring the winners of the Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition. The competition was presented by Ralphs.
The evening is the official unveiling of the medalists of the wine and tequila judging, which was held in May, taking place Saturday, June 16, from 6-11 p.m. at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum at Fairplex. Tickets for the event are $100 per person, a portion of which is tax deductible. Host packages are available starting at $500. This unique fundraising event, which benefits the educational programming for the Foundations at Fairplex, brings together the winners amidst an impressive collection of one-of-a-kind automobiles and hot rods.
These fascinating cars will not only be enjoyed in their true-to-life third-dimension classic forms, but also on canvas. Internationally renowned artist Hector Cademartori will display several of his oil on canvas and watercolor pieces, depicting motor racing art from NHRA drag racing to Formula One and sports cars. The Argentinean-born Cademartori is known best for his motor racing art. His work can be found hanging in Dan Gurney’s All American Racers offices to gracing the covers of Indianapolis 500 yearbooks; from Laguna Seca Raceway, California Speedway and the Carrera Panamericana posters to foreign and domestic automobile and motorcycle magazines.
A motor racing enthusiast, Cademartori became interested in racing as a teen and was very much influenced by the European tradition – Formula One and the great marques like Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes Benz and Lotus. He began selling his illustrations and paintings after graduating from high school. Relocating to the United States in 1983, Cademartori began specializing in motor racing art. His clients include racing teams, corporations, magazines and private parties. He resides in La Verne, California.
After enjoying wine and art, guests to Wine & Stars can dance the night away in Thunder Alley to the classic rock instrumental sounds of The Dynotunes. And when the doggies get a little tired from all that dancing, relax and enjoy a “drive-in” movie.
