L.A. COUNTY FAIR OFFERS SWASHBUCKLIN’ FUN WITH A PIRATE’S LIFE

Ahoy mateys!  It’s time to weigh anchor and set sail to the L.A. County Fair for a pirate adventure not to be missed.  It’s all hands on deck as buccaneers offer a voyage full of surprises and suspense.
Shiver me timbers! It’s high-diving and comic pirate escapades with two rip-roarin’ shows. Pirates of the Columbian Caribbean set sail every day starting at 2 p.m. for an adventure on the high seas. The sensational Murcias family will present a unique aerial high wire show. This show promises to keep the audience in suspense as pirates suspended 30 feet in the air duel for the right to be the Captain of the Columbian Caribbean pirate ship. Step back in time with The Vagabond Pirates. These are the most fearsome and funny troupe of pirates to sail six of the seven seas. Enjoy Captain Red Eye Pete and his Band of Pirates as they wreak havoc upon those fortunate enough to experience their lively and Pirate Sea Shanties, comedy and sing-alongs. Guests can participate – or walk the plank – in competitions within the show.  Then, watch as two of their most blood thirsty pirates battle it out, sword to sword to determine which should be first mate.
Enroll in Cap’n Calico Jack’s Pirate Academy, where “students” will learn how to steer a pirate ship, tie knots, make their own sword, pirate hat and patch, and even make a Jolly Roger. Put all that schooling to use at Ship Wreck Reef, where newly crowned pirates can dig for buried treasure. In this sunken pirate ship filled with sand, find out what booty really is. Did we say ay matey? Yes, we did, as well as Ahoy, Grog, Scurvy Dog and Landlubber. Celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day at the Fair Sept. 19.
The L.A. County Fair runs Sept. 5 – 28, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred racing is Sept. 5 – 22, closed Tuesdays. For more information, visit the Web site at www.lacountyfair.com
