FROSTY FUN RETURNS TO THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR

Since its inception in 2006, Winter Wonderland’s snowy playground, presented by AT&T, has been an enormously popular attraction for Fairguests of all ages. It’s back again for the 2008 L. A. County Fair and it’s bigger and cooler than ever, offering a fresh blast of arctic air during the Fair’s warm September days. There’s real snow for sledding, an ice skating rink and snowflakes will fall on your nose and eyelashes every half hour without fail.
If you’re not skating or sledding, you might want to do some shopping, so we have a whole slew of specialty items, including sheepskin-lined boots, Insanely Sweet candy and caramel apples, and soups perfect for wintry weather from Sherri’s Plentiful Pantry The holidays are coming, so don’t miss this opportunity to find one-of-a-kind items – even Ocean Breeze jewelry apropos of Winter Wonderland’s visit from Beach Santa.
Skate rental is just $12 for a 45-minute spin around the rink. Sessions start every hour on the half hour (11:30, 12:30, 1:30, etc.). When they dim the lights and the snow starts begins to fall, you’ll believe you’ve been transported to an Alpine village.
The L.A. County Fair is Sept. 5 – 28, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred racing is Sept. 5 – 22, closed Tuesdays. For more information, visit the Web site at www.lacountyfair.com.
