Pomona, Calif. (Sept. 15, 2008) -- Jockey Joel Rosario, who took off the first week of the Fairplex Park meet for a well deserved rest after the conclusion of Del Mar, and Martin Pedroza, the track's leading jockey, dominated the action on Monday as both won three races.
With a three-day $2 pick six carryover pool of $466,799 on the line, bettors pushed another $1,263,138 through the windows, hoping to hit the elusive exotic wager.
All three of Rosario's winners---Private Posse ($3.60), Stormin Story (via a disqualification) and Lauren C ($ 9.40)---were part of the pick six, while Pedroza tripled with Bold Cleo ($4.80), Gray Black N White ($2.80) and Gold Datnoid ($5.20).
When the dust had cleared at the end of the 10-race program, there 146 winning tickets in the pick six worth $7,922.40 each. Five winners returned $97.20.
The $1 win pick nine, which had a carryover pool of $50,282, also was hit. There were three winning tickets worth $20,422.30 apiece.
* Racing resumes on Wednesday with the $65,000 Black Swan Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles.
