Wine & Cars Under the Stars welcomed nearly 400 guests to its third gala June 20, with an impressive backdrop provided by the renowned Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum at Fairplex. Thanks to the attendees’ generous support nearly $50,000 was raised to benefit the many educational community programs supported by the foundations at Fairplex. The myriad benefits for youngsters and community include FairKids Discovery Club field trips, which bring more than 100,000 school children to the Fair for free; the Big Yellow School Bus program; the renowned Child Development Center; and more.
Guests enjoyed the inaugural public peek and taste of the winners of the 2009 Los Angeles International Wine & Spirits Competition, which concluded at the end of May. The competition attracts national and international entries and is one of the most mature and prestigious competitions in the nation. More than 3,400 wines were entered, joined by spirits entries totaling 199.
The wines will also be available for tasting at the Wine & Spirit Marketplace during the annual L.A. County Fair, Sept. 5-Oct. 4.
