KABOOM! delivers a totally unique Independence Day bill of fare — great for families, neighbors, friends, in fact anyone who enjoys an upbeat and exhilarating patriotic show complemented by BMX riders and monster trucks, an insane myriad of stunts, thrills, chills and really big tires that create plenty of adrenalin-charged dust.
Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto, the premier fireworks company in the nation, shows up and fires up the pyro like no one else. They’ve been with KABOOM! since 1986 when it began as a day-long event. This year’s tribute is themed “Red, White & Boom.” Exploding freestyle motocross—BMX riders that direct airborne motorcycles and execute somersaults and flips, and are most often physically separated from their bikes -are heart stoppers Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Scotty Stephens, Julian Dussea and Jeff Griffins. Then come the monsters, trucks that is, the biggest names in the industry, including Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Unnamed & Untamed, Nasty Boy and Half Pint. The crowd goes crazy with each dirt-stirring spin and jump. Just to add to the spectacle the audience can cast votes for their favorites.
KABOOM! is a ton of fun, evidenced by the fact it’s been a sold-out event every year since 2002 when it switched to a nighttime format. Ticket prices are the same as 2008, $19.50 for box seats, $17.50 for trackside bleachers and $14 for general admission seating. Ages 2 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available now at ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster locations and at Fairplex Gate 1 box office, right up to showtime Saturday, July 4, beginning at 8 p.m. (unless sold out). Acts are subject to change. For more information, visit the Web site at Fairplex.com. -30-
