CARNIVAL BRINGS THRILLS TO L.A. COUNTY FAIR

The award-winning Ray Cammack Shows returns to the L.A. County Fair for the 25th consecutive year with one of the largest assortments of rides and attractions in the nation. More than 70 exciting rides will be featured, including an expanded kiddie carnival.

The younger folks can enjoy junior thrills at the expanded kiddie carnival in Park Square. With rides like Aladdin, where youngsters are whisked away on a magic carpet, and Pirates, a swashbuckling adventure, there is plenty to keep the kids busy. The older set can look for favorites like G Force, Techno Jump, Top Spin, Hi-Miler, Wilde Maus and Euro Slide in the main carnival. New this year is Disk-O, a spinning disk where the seated riders are twirled 360 degrees from side to side. This year also sees the return of La Grande Wheel – the Western Hemisphere’s largest mobile Ferris wheel. Towering nearly 50 meters high and spanning nearly 50 meters wide – that’s taller than the Statue of Liberty – it has 36 enclosed gondolas that can carry up to 288 guests at one time.

RCS presents an array of exciting midway fun. There are rides that will get you soaked, get the adrenaline flowing and keep the vocal chords vibrating with gasps and screams. And if that’s not enough, try your hand at pitching dimes, tossing hoops or tossing balls in hoops. Maybe you’ll win that highly sought after giant stuffed animal. And when you need replenishing, stop by the several snack bars for popcorn, cotton candy or an ice-cold treat.

No more carnival tickets! Purchase an RCS Fun Pass at any carnival ticket booth. Fill ‘er up and just swipe for carnival rides, games and fun in the midway. The Carnival Midway opens at noon Wednesdays through Fridays and at 10 a.m. weekends and remains open after the nightly Fair closing time.  On opening weekend, Sept. 5 – 7, rides, games, and select food and beverages will be only $1 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the carnival.

The L.A. County Fair opens Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 – 7 and then Wednesday – Sunday, Sept. 9 – Oct. 4, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred racing Sept. 10 – 28, dark Mondays Sept. 14 and 21 and Tuesdays. For information about ways to save at the Fair, visit lacountyfair.com.
