RALPHS FOOD DRIVE FRIDAYS AT THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR

Through a partnership among the L.A. County Fair, Ralphs grocery stores and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, every Friday of the L.A. County Fair will be a Ralphs Food Drive Friday. Every Fairguest who brings five cans of Ralphs Private Label canned goods to any Fair entry gate from noon to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 11, 18, 25 and Oct. 2 will receive free Fair admission for that date. The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank will distribute donated food to needy Los Angeles residents.

“This is a perfect opportunity for the Fair to partner with other organizations for the benefit of local communities while creating a mechanism for people to do good works and get an immediate return on their investment—free admission to the largest county fair in the nation,” said Jim Henwood, CEO of the Los Angeles County Fair Association.

"Ralphs is a proud supporter of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank,” commented Kendra Doyel, group vice president, public relations & government affairs, Ralphs Grocery Company. “Our joint commitment to fighting hunger in our communities is critical work now more than ever.  Ralphs will stand with the Foodbank and do all we can to support their mission."

“Ralphs has continued to come through in support for hunger relief efforts in L.A. County over the last year,” said Michael Flood, president and CEO of Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. “More and more people are seeking help due to the down economy, and the Ralphs Food Drive Friday campaign will help get more food on our shelves.”

The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank is a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1973 and is one of the largest food banks in the nation. Through a network of more than 550 charitable agencies with more than 900 sites, the Foodbank supplies enough food for more than 700,000 meals each week in Los Angeles County. The Foodbank is affiliated with Feeding America.

The L.A. County Fair opens Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 – 7 and then Wednesday – Sunday, Sept. 9 – Oct. 4, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred horse racing Sept. 10 – 28, dark Mondays Sept. 14 and 21 and Tuesdays. For information on ways to save at the Fair, visit lacountyfair.com.
