Olympic gold medalist and Pomona High School graduate Bob Seagren and his company, International City Racing, are seeking runners, walkers, inline skaters and bicyclists of all abilities and levels to participate in the inaugural L.A. County Half Marathon, which makes its 13-mile course through historic Fairplex and surrounding communities Dec. 13.
Registration is being accepted for the half marathon, Inline Half, Bike Tour, Mt. Sac Heritage Hall 5K and Kids 1-Mile Fun Run – something for all members of the family. “Being a native of Pomona, I am extremely excited to bring the Half Marathon here and encourage healthy living,” said Seagren. “Running is extremely popular right now, and it’s a sport that requires little or no cost, so it’s readily available to everyone.” The marathon starts and finishes at Fairplex, circling Bonelli Park and encompasses the cities of La Verne, San Dimas and Pomona. Marathon weekend includes a Health & Fitness Expo at Fairplex, which is free to the public. The Expo will feature the latest in running and the health and fitness industry. On marathon day, friends and family can gather at the Finish Line Festival at Finish Line Sports Grill at Fairplex, with a celebration with live music, food and fun.
