Crafts persons and artisans must submit entry forms by Tuesday, June 29, for the 2010 Tapestry competition at the L.A. County Fair. Forms may be downloaded from www.lacountyfair.com, but must be mailed back with a postmark no later than June 29. Fees are $2 per entry for works submitted in the featured Tapestry competitions of Arts & Crafts, Clothing & Textiles, Jewelry, Needle Art, Pottery, and Quilting. Entry items must be delivered between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, to The Village on Broadway/Tapestry at Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, CA 91768. Check in through Gate 1 off of White and McKinley, and follow signs to the drop-off area. Entry deadlines are also June 29 for featured contests – Christmas Tree Contest, Men Knit Too, Quilt Block Challenge, Project Hatway Contest, Warm Up America, and Help A Child Smile. Arts & Crafts divisions include Hand Painted China, Polymer Clay, Mosaics, Stained Glass, Toys, Wood, Gourd Art, Rubber Stamping, and Scrapbooking. Additional crafts include Miniature Houses and other Structures, Metal Craft, Ukrainian Egg Dying, Egg Art, Basket Weaving, Pressed Flowers, and Wreaths. Beadwork (other than beadwork jewelry) and Decorative Painting are also included in the Arts & Crafts competition. Clothing & Textiles divisions include Clothing, Textiles, Handmade Purses, Embellished Ready-Made Clothing & Accessories, Wearable Art, Free Motion Machine Embroidery, Wedding Attire & Accessories, and Pet Attire & Accessories. There are two Jewelry divisions – Jewelry (includes wire wrapping, metal worked and stone setting); and Beadwork Jewelry (includes pottery bead class). Needle Art divisions are Crocheted Clothing, Crocheted Afghans and Articles, Crocheted Dolls & Doll Clothing, Hand Spinning, Hand Spun/Finished Article, Hand Weaving, Machine Knit, Hand Knitted Clothing, Felting, Hand Knitted Afghans and Articles, Free Form Knitting or Crocheting, Cross Stitch, Hand Embroidery, Brazilian Embroidery, Needle Point and Petit Point, Lace, Hooked, Punched , Dolls, and Help a Child Smile. Pottery divisions are Wheel Thrown, Hand Built (no molds), Sculpture, and Low Fire. Quilting divisions are Hand Quilted, Machine Quilted, Long Arm Technique, Innovative Quilts, Group Quilts and Quilted Articles.
