Knitting and crocheting enthusiasts are invited to join the "Warm Up America" project at the 2010 L.A. County Fair. For more than a decade, thousands of 7"x 9" knitted or crocheted blocks have been collected by Fair volunteers to assemble into beautiful afghans and distributed to homeless shelters all over Los Angeles and Orange counties.
All volunteers need to do is to knit or crochet five or more blocks to donate to the project. Donations of yarn and completed afghans are also welcome, and can be delivered by July 13, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., to the L.A. County Fair, Knitting Lounge in The Village on Broadway (enter through Gate 1 on McKinley Avenue). Donations will also be accepted during the Fair, Sept. 4 to Oct. 3.
Donations may also be mailed to L.A. County Fair, Attn: Tapestry-Warm up America, P.O. Box 2250, Pomona, CA 91769. Volunteers are welcome also to bring their knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn to create squares and stitch them into afghans during the Fair at the Knitting Lounge.
