It’s a jungle out here at the L.A. County Fair – literally! The hillside above the Flower & Garden Pavilion has been transformed into an interactive, living jungle. Mojo’s Jungle is one of several new attractions at the 2010 Fair, one that offers guests a menagerie of mammals, reptiles, birds and insects. This is where the animal kingdom finds Pure. Fun., as will you!
Meet furry ambassador Mojo, a Weeper Capuchin monkey, considered among the most intelligent of the New World monkeys. She is your official guide into Mojo’s Jungle. Join Mojo on a journey of discovery as she takes you through the most dense and impenetrable regions within the tropical jungle to meet her numerous forest friends. Discover the plethora of wildlife contained within this remarkable terrain as you encounter amazing animals including mischievous monkeys, kickin’ kangaroos, bulky baboons, slithering serpents, intriguing insects, leapin’ leopards and much, much more.
Where’s Mojo? Just follow the tiki torches throughout the jungle and you’ll find her in various photo prop locations just waiting to take her picture with you. Mojo’s Monkey Mania Show is home to our jungle ambassador and her animal friends, and the place to be to learn all there is to know about these intriguing mammals. Guests of all ages get to be part of the show.
Hop on over to Joey’s Outback Hideout where you will find two popular members of the Marsupial family - kangaroos and wallabies. Reptile Territory features everything from snakes and alligators to lizards and turtles; everyone has walked, slithered, or waddled their way here to meet you. On your trek you will get the chance to touch real reptile armor and feel the thick scales that make these fascinating creatures wonderfully waterproof.
Visit Henrietta Hippo’s Watering Hole and discover the life-size replica of this fascinating beast.
Stop at the Jungle Survivor Camp, where you can learn how to survive the rigorous elements of a native jungle. Channel your inner beast as you learn how to travel like Tarzan as you swing from a jungle vine. Iggy’s Insect Encounter features insects and spiders. When you visit Iggy’s Insect Encounter, you get the rare opportunity to see some of these creepy crawlers up close and personal! And don’t miss Fiona’s Jungle Perch, where you will encounter a variety of parrots that make up the rainbow of the jungle. Our birds will roost at night, so Fiona’s Jungle Perch closes at 8 p.m. each day.
The L.A. County Fair opens Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4 – 6 and then Wednesday – Sunday, Sept. 8 – Oct. 3, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred horse racing at Fairplex Park will be Sept. 9 – Sept. 27, dark Mondays Sept. 13, 20 and Tuesdays.
