LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS.
 

The Los Angeles County Fair Association welcomes five new members in 2011. Joining the Association are James Blancarte of Burbank, Robert Curry of Pasadena, Kevin Lyman of Altadena, Jeff Fairley of Arcadia and Cecille Walks Peace of Alta Loma.

James Blancarte is senior partner with the law firm of AlvaradoSmith, APC in Los Angeles. He was born and raised in Pomona and serves on the board of the Claremont University Consortium. A graduate of the UCLA School of Law, he has more than 30 years of business and intellectual property litigation experience. He and his wife, Cynthia, live in Burbank with their four children.

Robert Curry is president and chief executive officer of Citrus Valley Health Partners since 2008. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and a master’s degree in public health administration. He is actively involved in several community boards and service organizations. He has worked within the health system for 32 years. Curry resides in Pasadena with his wife, Lori, and five sons.

Jeffrey Fairley is the owner and principal treating therapist at The Body Center Physical Therapy in Claremont. He specializes in spinal care including manual joint mobilization, motor control re-education and reformer based Pilates exercise training.  Jeff received a doctoral degree from University of Southern California and his residency and post graduate education at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. He serves on a number of committees and boards within the area. Fairley and his wife, Rebecca, reside in Arcadia with their two children.

Kevin Lyman is producer and creator of the hugely successful Vans Warped Tour, the longest running traveling music and extreme sports festival in the world today. He is co-producer on three other popular music tours, including The Rockstar Energy Drink Taste of Chaos Tour, The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown. He is active in a variety of philanthropic and eco initiatives including founding Unite the United Foundation which has raised more than $1 million for charity and grass-roots organizations. The foundation was formed in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. A portion on each of Lyman’s tours goes to specified charities. Kevin and his wife, Fran, reside in Altadena with their two daughters. The couple had their first date at the L.A. County Fair.

Cecille Walks Peace is the principal at Terra Vista Elementary School in Rancho Cucamonga where she served as a teacher and assistant principal for many years. She is a graduate of California Polytechnic University, Pomona and received post-graduate degrees from California State University, San Bernardino and Claremont Graduate University. She and her husband, the Rev. Dwight Peace, reside in Alta Loma with their two sons.

The LACFA is comprised of no more than 60 active members including an 11-member board of directors. The newest members bring a commitment to education and community, long-held components of the Association’s mission.

The LACFA is a not-for-profit 501(c) (5) mutual benefit corporation. The facility’s signature event, the L.A. County Fair, celebrating its 89th anniversary, is complemented by 500 year-round events including those of The Learning Centers at Fairplex. The organization has a strong commitment to education, youth and serving the community. Its staff and association members are active throughout the community and active within the association to improve, strengthen and grow the many elements of the 543-acre campus.
