OUR BODY: LIVE HEALTHY EXHIBITS THAT HEALTHY HABITS ARE FOR EVERY BODY

We are what we eat, drink and, yes, smoke.
And nowhere is the evidence of our health more clearly demonstrated than in the L. A. County Fair's new Our Body: Live Healthy exhibit, which takes Fairguests inside the amazing organism that is the human body.
This educational exhibit – which uses real human specimens that have been preserved by using a process called polymer impregnation, or plastination – returns to the Fair with its all-new theme after a successful debut in 2010. The plastination process preserves tissues right down to the microscopic level, allowing visitors to see directly just how the amazing human body works – and how disease and bad habits challenge its functions.
Partnerships with Inter Valley Health Plan, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and Western University of Health Sciences will ensure that knowledgeable docents and informational displays will answer any questions guests may have as they further explore the inner workings of the human body and how they can promote well-being within themselves and their communities.
Through the L.A. County Fair’s dedication to education and generous support from valued partners, guests can enjoy an immersive and amazing presentation for less than the cost of admission for a 3-D movie. “We are proud to welcome back Our Body,” said Dale Coleman, vice president of sales, marketing and creative programming. “Seeing a unique exhibit like this can really give an insight into how lifestyle directly affects our health.”
With a focus on health prevention and education, Our Body: Live Healthy will also display full human bodies new to the L.A County Fair, such as “The Thinker,” which shows the spinal cord and central nervous system by mimicking the famous statue. Also, the exhibit will include a body cut finely on the sagital (vertical) plane to show the intricate nature of human anatomy in a three-dimensional and realistic platform.
Our Body: Live Healthy is located in the Grandstand and is open every day of the Fair, Sept. 3-Oct. 2. Tickets are $8 online and at the door. To schedule a free school field trip through our FairKids Field Trip program, contact Shanell Santee at (909) 865-4075. Photos are available by request. For more information, please visit
