FAIRPLEX STORY: FAIRPLEX PARK AIDS HORSES IN SAN DIMAS CANYON WILDFIRE
For Immediate Release
POMONA, Calif., Sept. 23--Fairplex Park housed in its barn area Monday as
many as 70 horses threatened by a major wildfire near a rustic community in
the nearby Angeles National Forest.
"There's a crisis in the San Dimas Canyon," said Fairplex racing manager
George Bradvica. "Many horses are located there and the Humane Society called
us, along with the Sycamore Ranch at Horsethief Canyon Park, and asked us to
accept up to 70 horses that were being evacuated today and place them in our
barn area. Of course, we are doing our utmost to accommodate them."
Several companies are donating alfalfa to feed the incoming horses, among
them Feedplex, Citrus Feeds and Angel's Feed.
Bradvica said the horses were expected to arrive at Fairplex in mid-afternoon.
