FAIRPLEX STORY: POSADAS RALLIES TO CAPTURE BANGLES AND BEADS STAKES AT FAIRPLEX

For Immediate Release

POMONA, Calif., Sept. 24--Posadas rebounded from a dull effort at Del Mar on

Aug. 23 to win the 34th running of the $48,000 Bangles and Beads Stakes by

three-quarters of a length at Fairplex Park on Tuesday.

Ridden by Martin Pedroza, the track's career leader with 339 victories, the

4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Miswaki covered 6 1/2 furlongs over a

fast track in 1:17.61 under 122 pounds. She paid $7.20 to win.

Absolutism, at 23-1 the longest shot in the compact field of five fillies and

mares, finished second under Daniel Vergara, one length in front of Sister

Patricia, who was third under Danny Sorenson. Ayanna, the 11-10 favorite

ridden by Garrett Gomez, broke in at the start, then rushed to the lead,

holding sway into the stretch but fading through the lane. Green Eyed Lady

finished last.

"She broke better than I thought and showed a lot more speed," said Pedroza,

who tied Tyler Baze for the meet lead with 17 victories each. "I thought

Ayanna would be in front of me, but I was in front of her. At the first turn,

Ayanna kind of rushed up into me and got in front of me, but I didn't panic.

I just sat there and at about the 3/8 pole I still hand't moved yet. When I

asked her, I knew she would blow right by."

It was the third win from 14 starts for Posadas, who earned $27,500.

Amber Hills, second in the Generous Portion at Del Mar on Sept. 4, is the 2-1

morning line favorite for Wednesday's 23rd running of the $50,000 Black Swan

Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles. The field in post position

order: Market Garden, Matt Garcia, 12-1; Passionforanna, Tyler Baze, 5-1; My

Honey Bunny, Chance Rollins, 3-1; Amber Hills, Martin Pedroza, 2-1; Amanda

Louise, Goncalino Almeida, 8-1; Foggerinthevalley, Danny Sorenson, 6-1;

Segovia, Iggy Puglisi, 15-1; Iza Beauty, Luis Jauregui, 20-1; Alpine Singer,

Scott Stevens, 3-1; and Skippingtomontana, Felipe Martinez, 20-1. My Honey

By=unny and Alpine Singer run coupled as an entry. All are assigned 113

pounds.

There is a Pick Six carryover to Wednesday of $31,832.

First post time daily is 12:30 p.m.
