FAIRPLEX STORY: HOT MARKET, REBA'S GOLD SHARE TOP WEIGHT FOR RALPH M. HINDS INVITATIONAL

For Immediate Release

Contact: Ed Golden

Hot Market and Reba's Gold, two consistent and versatile campaigners, have

been assigned co-highweight of 119 pounds by racing secretary Richard Wheeler

for Fairplex Park's marquee event, the $100,000 Ralph M. Hinds Pomona

Invitational Handicap on closing day, Sunday.

Reba's Gold, however, may find himself the starting top weight.

"He'll either run here or at Bay Meadows on Oct. 5, one of those two spots,

and as we speak right now, I'm 50-50," trainer Craig Lewis said Wednesday of

Hot Market, who has won at a mile and a sixteenth and at six furlongs, in

addition to finishing just a head back in second to streaking sprint stakes

winner Disturbingthepeace in the Grade II Pat O'Brien Handicap at Del Mar on

Aug. 18. Lewis added that Hot Market "is a pretty versatile horse and I'm

looking for a prep race" for California Cup day at Oak Tree at Santa Anita on

Nov. 2.

The 24th edition of the Hinds will be decided at about 1 1/8 miles. The Bay

Meadows race to which Lewis referred is the California Sprint Championship at

six furlongs, also with a purse of $100,000. Lewis said if Hot Market runs in

the Hinds, Jose Valdivia Jr. has the mount.

Probable starters for the Hinds: Reba's Gold, David Flores, 119; Nate's

Colony, Martin Pedroza, 117; Sigfreto, Matt Garcia, 117; Dig for It, no

rider; Out of Mind, Chance Rollins, 116; Most Likely, no rider, 115; San

Nicholas, Tyler Baze, 115; Hook Call, no rider, 113; and Moving's Gold, 113.
