From savory to smooth, sweet to filled-with-spice, the winners of George’s Cheesecake competition Sept. 20 at the 2002 L.A. County Fair definitely delighted the judges.

Sponsored by chef George Geary, the contest drew 32 entries, 22 in the dessert division and 10 in the savory. Entries included Neapolitan, mango, blue cheese, artichoke cheese, pistachio goat cheese and savory jalapeno. He recently released a new book, “125 Best Cheesecake Recipes.” He has been a judge at the Fair for 14 years.

“Every year the quality of the entries gets higher and higher,” he said.

First place winners received $50 and a rosette. Second place winners received $25 and a rosette. Third received $10 and a rosette, and fourth place took a ribbon. All winners received a copy of Geary’s book.
