The L.A. County Fair was spicing things up as winners of the 2002 TABASCO Tex-Mex Recipe Challenge were announced on September 22. Participants prepared their best Tex-Mex dip, main dish, or party recipe using TABASCO Green Pepper Sauce. With just one category, first, second, and third place winners were awarded with prizes.
First Place went to Lisa Carter of Lakewood with her chilled Creamy Cucumber Soup. This one-of-a-kind soup holds flavors of refreshing cucumber and potato with a spicy kick of TABASCO for the aftertaste. Of the 26 participants, Carter went home with the grand prize of the TABASCO gift basket, the TABASCO apron, the TABASCO T-shirt, and the cash prize of $100.00. Carter was also the 2nd place winner of the SPAM Oven Roasted Turkey Recipe contest that took place on September 14.
The 2nd Place winner was April Burton of Rowland Heights with her Spicy Meatballs. In addition to her red ribbon, Burton took home her TABASCO apron, T-shirt, and her cash prize of $50.00.
Michael Soules of Vista was the 3rd Place winner with his TABASCO Green Pepper and Jam Dip. Soules received his very own TABASCO apron, T-shirt, and a cash prize of $25.00.
