Horses and horse enthusiasts from throughout the western states will ride into Fairplex Jan. 30 - Feb. 2 for Equine Affaire, the nation’s premiere national equine exposition and equestrian gathering. Equine Affaire will offer four days of seminars, demonstrations, exhibits and training clinics with such experts as popular horseman Pat Parelli.
This “celebration of the horse” brings together horse lovers, horse breeders, sports associations and horse-related businesses to share their expertise, their experiences and their individual equine-related passions. They will also market a vast array of horse-related products and services.
Show times are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The trade show closes at 7 p.m. but special evening clinics continue to 9:30 p.m.
General admission includes all clinics, seminars and demonstrations. Adults are $15 per day or $45 for a four-day ticket; children ages 7-12 are $10 per day or $30 for a four-day ticket; and children ages 6 and younger are free.
The event’s program will include more than 100 different clinics, seminars and demonstrations throughout the four-day exposition. The organizers’ goals for the event include providing a comprehensive introduction to the extraordinary world of horses for non-horse people and to expand the horizons for current horse aficionados; promoting communication and cooperation within the horse industry; improving horse management, training and riding skills of current horse enthusiasts; and showcasing the finest horses and competitors of a variety of breeds.
Training clinics and demonstrations include reining, western pleasure, jumping, English pleasure, showmanship and dressage. Seminar presentations and demonstrations include horse health, horse behavior, alternative therapies, sports psychology, equine business management and equine first aid.
The educational program will include in-depth training sessions with three of the nation’s most respected trainers. Clinics will be conducted from 7:45 to 9:30 p.m. in the Horse and Rider Arena at the close of the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Pat Parelli will host a general training clinic on Thursday; Craig Johnson will present reining on Friday evening; and Leslie Morse will be featured in a dressage clinic on Saturday. There will also be a special Friday evening performance of bareback, bridleless drill riding by the young riders of the Foxfield Equestrian Team.
