The O.H. Kruse Grain and Milling Company Rooster Crowing and Hen Cackling Contest returns to the L.A. County Fair this year. The Fair is scheduled for Sept. 12-28.
Entries will be accepted until contest time and are limited to the first 25 entries in each class. The contest will take place at 1 p.m., Sept. 28, in the Big Red Barn.
There is no fee to enter the contest. All participants will receive a rosette. Cash prizes of $5 will be given to the third, fourth, fifth and sixth place winners in each class. The Runner-up will receive a $10 prize and a trophy. The Champion will receive a $15 prize and a trophy.
Contestants will be given one minute to complete their rooster crowing or hen cackling. The judging criteria are realism, volume and clarity, appeal and technique and originality.
