The Parnelli Jones exhibition is front and center at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum at Fairplex in Pomona, but it’ll share the spotlight on Saturday, June 28 when a racing couple from a racing family ties the proverbial knot. Krista Comstock and Richard Merce will wed on the steps of the museum, getting the go-ahead from the racing Christmas tree’s green light before enjoying the reception inside the museum. The wedding takes place at 5:30 p.m.
All forms of attire are acceptable, as several of the attendees are competing in the Goodguys Hot Rod Happening, which continues until Sunday at Pomona Raceway at Fairplex. The couple got engaged at the finish line of the Super Chevy Show in 2000. They both have a drag racing background, as do the bride’s parents so the setting, while a first for the museum, is a natural choice. The wedding party, including the bride and groom will be delivered to the steps of the museum in custom cars, including a police package Camaro, a 1994 Camaro, a 1940s Willys AA Gasser and a 1929 Ford Roadster. With this wedding, there should be no problem getting the bride to the “church” on time. For additional information, contact Karen Comstock at (626) 233-2637.
