Cats with folded ears, cats with big ears, cats with short tails, cats with curly hair and even cats with no hair will take over Fairplex during the Los Colores Cat Club Show Saturday, Aug. 16, and Sunday, Aug. 17.
As many as 450 of the world’s top show cats that represent 37 different breeds will be on hand for the various activities associated with the show. The show features a Junior Showmanship competition and a veteran competition, complete with a Parade of Breeds featuring Regional and National winners. At 2 p.m., Sunday, a celebrity judge will choose the Best of the Best Cat. A household pet competition will also be held for cats 4 months and older from Los Angeles County.
A special feature this year will be “Devon Heaven,” which will be a gathering of rare Devon rex cats. These cats have huge ears, a pixie-like face and a coat of loose waves and curls. The Los Colores Cat Club Show also features a Petting Zoo where visitors can pet and handle everything from a hairless Sphynx to a Burmese—the world’s best lap cat. For visitors who are looking to adopt or buy a cat, rescue cats from local shelters, retired Grand Champions and even pedigreed kittens from breeders will be available. The show will also feature specialty items, including T-shirts, hand-crafted cat themed jewelry, gourmet cat food and cat toys.
The show is hosted by Southern California-based Los Colores Cat Club. The club held their first show in 1981 and has grown into one of the largest shows on the West Coast.
