A city within a city, the L.A. County Fair is the ultimate one stop, perfect for purchasing that one of a kind something for oneself or for another. During the Arts and Crafts Village Weekends, Fairguests will be given ample opportunity to do some early holiday shopping for ingenious items available hardly anywhere else. This year’s Fair runs Sept. 12-28 at Fairplex in Pomona.
The Arts and Crafts Village Weekends opens Sept. 12-14 on Redwood Street, on the side of Building 4, and thereafter on Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-28. Items for sale are all handmade and range from toiletries to decorative goodies for the home.
Especially made for home enjoyment are “quillows” – pillows that turn into quilts, woven baskets, silverware baskets lined with cloth, floral arrangements, personalized books, candles and more. For home exteriors, don’t forget to purchase a birdcage or some wind chimes. There are even wood yard ornaments complete with amusing sayings, which are great for conversation pieces.
Perfect gifts ideas include, but are not limited to teddy bears, humorous lithographs, soaps made out of 100 percent glycerin – an ingredient that leaves no residue and helps skin feel softer – and lotions made from natural ingredients like eucalyptus. Jewelry, always a plus, will include stone motifs or beaded and wired pieces. Also be sure to check out some of the snazzy and innovative clothing designs available. From sundresses to shirts, people will be sure to ask where such clothing came from.
