Kitsch-culture archivist-humorist-author and “histo-tainer” Charles Phoenix will offer a “History and Kitsch Tour of the L.A. County Fair” Saturday, Sept. 13, during the opening weekend of the Fair. Phoenix will offer three tours on Saturday at 10:15 and 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. The tours are free with the price of Fair admission and no reservations are necessary. Tours begin on the steps of the Millard Sheets Gallery. The Fair is celebrating its 81st anniversary edition and will run Sept. 12-28. This is the second year Phoenix has offered walking tours of the Fair. He has always been fascinated with Americana and offers retro slide shows throughout the year.
