WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN NESTLE BAKING CHALLENGE AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR
Two San Diego residents took top honors in the Nestle Toll House Baking Challenge Sept. 14 at the L.A. County Fair. Daniel Knighton of San Diego received first place for his chocolate cheesecake. Alberta F. Dunbar took third place for her fudgy pecan praline torte. Faye M. Wassenaar of Downey came in second with Faye’s special party chocolate torte. There were 38 contestants in the competition. Recipes had to include Nestle Toll House Choco Bake, Unsweetened Baking Chocolate Bars, Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate Bars, Premier White Baking Bars or Cocoa. First place received $175; second place got $100; and third won $50.
