WINNERS NAMED IN CHEESECAKE CONTEST AT THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR

       A San Diego man and a Rancho Cucamonga woman nabbed first place in the George’s Cheesecake Contest on Sept. 21 at the L.A. County Fair. The Fair runs through Sept. 28.
      Daniel Knighton of San Diego created A Black and White Affair to capture first place in the Cheesecake dessert category. Peggy Linberg of Rancho Cucamonga crafted a Triple Layer Cheesecake to win first place in the Savory Cheesecake category. Savory cheesecakes are served as appetizers and are made with herbs and spices. Knighton and Linberg each received a rosette, $50 and a 125 Best Cheesecake Recipes cookbook.
      Jennifer Chase of San Diego took second place in the Cheesecake dessert category with a Chocolate Covered Banana Cheesecake and Alberta Dunbar of San Diego won third with her A Touch of Pumpkin Cheesecake.
      Lynn Davis of Moreno Valley won second place in the Savory Cheesecake category with her Savory Salmon Cheesecake and Lisa Carter of Lakewood won third place with her Savory Artichoke Dill Cheesecake.
      Second place winners received a rosette, $25 and a cookbook and third place winners received a rosette, $10 and a cookbook.
