The Inland Valley Council of Churches (formerly Pomona Inland Valley Council of Churches) is pleased to announce its 8th annual golf tournament, Changing Lives Golf Classic. Once again this year’s tournament will be held at the prestigious Sierra La Verne Country Club on Thursday, April 29, 2004. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with the shotgun start at 12 noon. After a day of golfing, the social hour and silent auction begin at 5 p.m. with dinner following at 6 p.m. Golfers receive a full day of fun including carts, tee package, refreshments, prizes and a gourmet dinner. All proceeds from this tournament go to support the programs of the Council of Churches.
It is our privilege to have Anthony Munoz joining us again as our Celebrity Golfer. Anthony is remembered by locals as an incomparable all-around athlete who was a Chaffey High School two-way two-time prep football All American, a standout on both offense and defense. While playing football at USC, Coach John Robinson nominated Anthony for All-World. “He’s one of the greatest football players I’ve ever been associated with at ANY position,” Robinson declared. Anthony was inducted into the Pro Football Hal of Fame in 1998 after a successful career with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Council offers an array of services for those in need including Our House Emergency Shelter, transitional living, a hunger program with three food security sites and many other support services. These services are provided for over 70,000 people annually, half of whom are children.
