KABOOM! changed its format in 2002 and discovered an audience that loves monster trucks, monster big air freestyle motocross daredevils and, of course, the spectacular fireworks display presented by the premier fireworks company in the country, Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto. In fact, the event has been a sell-out the last 2 years.
KABOOM! is presented by Coca Cola, Mark Christopher Chevrolet and the City of Pomona. Fairplex has the only show of this kind appearing among a plethora of fireworks events on Sunday, July 4.
The action is non-stop, getting underway at 8 p.m., when the likes of Billy Walls, Jeff “Ox” Kargola, Willey Fullmer and Dave Demangos appear on motorcycles performing stunts that will leave you stunned and momentarily dazed. And, just when you think you’ve reached your screaming and cheering maximus, bring on those monster trucks. Ready to rev it up and tear it up are crowd pleasing behemoths Monster Patrol, Bear Foot, Dust Devil, Shocker and Terminator.
The patriotic fireworks finale of the evening will leave you speechless with a smashing display choreographed to complement the theme, “A Salute to Heroes,” presented by Pyro Spectaculars. Pyro Spectaculars has been with KABOOM since its inception 18 years ago. The skyrockets, mid-level fireworks and lower level sets exploding to a music program are a fitting tribute and perfect conclusion to an exciting and riveting evening.
This year’s prices are the same as in 2003: Reserved box seats $18.50; trackside bleachers $15; general seating $11 and free for ages 2 and younger. Parking is $6 and preferred parking $9 at Gate 17 on Fairplex Drive. Gate 17 is scheduled to open at 6 p.m.

Groups or individuals can become Friends of KABOOM! For $500, Friends of KABOOM! will be recognized by name in the Official Program, on the Fairplex Web site, and on a Friends of KABOOM! banner, with P.A. announcements during the event, and will receive four VIP seats, two preferred parking passes, and two giant tubs of popcorn.
For your safety and enjoyment there are no ice chests, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, cans or bottles allowed inside the facility. An area to park strollers will be provided for a nominal charge.
