This year’s L.A. County Fair at Fairplex in Pomona will offer a variety of contests in the rabbits and cavies divisions. The exhibit runs Sept. 20-24. The Fair runs Sept. 13-29.
Entries will close Sept. 3 for the Open and Junior Rabbits and Cavies competition. Entries may close sooner if capacity is reached. A $2 entry fee per class is required for the open division and a $1 entry fee for the junior division. The fees must accompany the entry form and the entry form must include the breed, variety, sex, age, leg band/ear tattoo number, division and class, along with the social security number and signature of the exhibitor.
All exhibits must be delivered on Sept. 20 from 6 to 9 a.m. to the new Kountry Kritters Barn located in FairView Farms. Rabbit and cavies must be cooped by 10 a.m.
A Rabbit Skillathon for youth will be held on Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. There is no entry fee to participate in this contest. Participants will be tested on their basic rabbit knowledge. Participants will be divided into three classes: senior (ages 15-18), intermediate (ages 12-14) and junior (8-11). Trophies and ribbons will be awarded for various honors.
The Rabbit and Cavies Showmanship contests for youth will also take place on Sept. 21. Rabbit Showmanship will take place at 9 a.m. and Cavy Showmanship will take place immediately after Cavy Judging. There is no entry fee to participate in this contest. Trophies will be awarded for various honors.
