Guests can get an adrenalin rush at Action Avenue during this year’s L.A. County Fair, Sept. 10-26. Opening weekend is high-flying fun in Action Avenue. ASA Events presents the LG Action Sports Championships, featuring the U.S. Championships for skateboarding and BMX, and the World Championships for inline skating and freestyle motocross. Scheduled to appear are some of the top names in the sport including Mike Metzger, Dave Mirra, Bucky Lasek and Bob Burnquist. The pro competition runs Sept. 10-12. The competition offers more than $650,000 in cash and prizes, the largest per sport prize money in history, and a minimum of 16 hours of national television coverage on Fox Sports Net from October thru December. Amateurs will compete Sept. 24-26. On all non-competition days Sept. 13-23, Fairguests can enjoy an open skate park where they can test their skills between the hours of 5-9 p.m. The event will feature live music and an interactive skate park, a Festival Village with break dancing, video games, graffiti art and DJs that will keep the area hopping all the time. The Skycoaster is at home in Action Avenue, combining accelerating elements of skydiving and hang-gliding, allowing passengers the sensation of flying through the air from 110 feet up. Terrorfest Productions presents “Scare at the Fair,” a haunted 3-D attraction that is guaranteed to Scare the Fair out of you. Brave the grave as you put on 3-D “Frightvision” glasses and step into a whole new world of fear. Take a walk through the Terrorfest Productions’ Scare at the Fair 3-D Queen Mary Shipwreck Maze, with jump-out monsters, a skull room, the Hallway of Doors and Spirit Room. One of three Kiddie Carnivals is in Action Avenue with an exciting playground for the younger set, including a spin on Bear Affair, Elephant Ride and the Tea Cups, among others.
