With recent hit single “The Reason,” which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Top 100, the highest charted rock track since March 2002, Hoobastank has solidified themselves as one of hard rocks premier bands today. The band brings their diverse sound to the L.A. County Fair’s End of Summer Concert Series at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 24 at the Los Angeles Newspaper Group Grandstand Stage. The Fair runs Sept. 10-26. Formed in the mid-1990s in the Los Angeles suburb of Agoura Hills, the band-Doug Robb, Dan Estrin, Chris Hesse and Markku Lappalainen has released two albums. Their self-titled debut went platinum thanks to the hit singles “Crawling in the Dark” and “Running Away.” Their second album, The Reason is heading in the same direction as well being No. 2 on the charts. Hoobastank is currently on a nation-wide 15-city tour with Phantom Planet and Dredg performing hits from The Reason album. They are also performing at Fox’s upcoming Fashion Rocks special on Sept. 8 at Radio City Music Hall. The show will air on Fox on Sept. 26. The show demonstrates how rock influences fashion and culture. Unlike their first album, The Reason album shows they are songwriters of uncommon talent, with a broader palette of songs, moods and emotions. Their songs have an intangible ability to speak for and to the things that normal kids think and feel. With that in mind they have been nominated for three Teen Choice Awards, which takes place Aug. 8 in Los Angeles. The three categories the band has been recognized for are: Choice Love Song: “The Reason” Choice Music Rock Group and Choice Rock Track: “The Reason.” Fans are encouraged to log on to www.teenpeople.com/teenchoice and vote. General admission to see Hoobastank in concert is free with regular Fair admission; however, special reserved seating is now available for purchase. Reserved seating tickets are $17.50. Stageside seating is $50.
