PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM VISITS THE L.A. COUNTY FAIR

Press Release Image

There’s nothing ordinary about Building 4 at the L.A. County Fair. The enormous hall, which once long ago was called The Agricultural Pavilion, has been home to elaborate fruit displays, bees and honey exhibits, and wine and jazz ensembles.
This year, during the annual L.A. County Fair, Sept. 10-26, guests will receive a highly accelerated charge from an exhibition presented by the well-known Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. It’s been said that Californians love their cars, but the masses especially love the cars of celebrities and notables.
The special exhibition is titled “Cars of Hollywood Stars,” and the selections are so fine, so rare, and so fun; some appeared on screen and others played an essential part in the opulent Hollywood lifestyle.
The 5,000-square-foot exhibit will highlight 10 vehicles, including a mini-tribute to the late great Steve McQueen. A selection of four movie and personal vehicles of McQueen’s are in the exhibit: 1956 Jaguar XKSS (one of only 16 built), 1957 Chevrolet Convertible, 1934 Ford Panel Delivery and a 1968 Ford Mustang driven by McQueen in the movie “Bullitt.”
Continue through the exhibit and see the hero cars, the 1966 Batmobile from the Batman TV series and the 1999 Mach 5 from the Speed Racer TV series. A presentation of truly spectacular vehicles are showcased with a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom Town Car, previously owned by Fred Astaire, 1948 Delahaye Type 178 Cabriolet that belonged to Elton John and Rita Heyworth’s 1953 Cadillac by Ghia.
These priceless vehicles are more than a set of wheels; to view and drool over the “Cars of Hollywood Stars,” exhibit is free with Fair admission.
