Open Poultry entries are due Aug. 26 for the L.A. County Fair, Sept. 13 – 29 at Fairplex in Pomona. Entries may close sooner if capacity is reached. There is a $2 fee per entry per class.
Entry fees must accompany entry forms, which must include the breed, variety, age, sex, band number and division, as well as the social security number and signature of exhibitor. Exhibits must be received Sept.16 between 6-9 a.m. at the new Kountry Kritters Barn in FairView Farms. All birds must be caged by 10 a.m.
A variety of birds may participate in the Open Poultry contest. Large poultry participants include American, Asiatic, English, Mediterranean, Continental and all-other standard breeds. Other breeds for the exhibit include Game breeds, Game-Bantam, miscellaneous, large poultry, non-standard large poultry, all other combs, clean legged bantams, ducks, geese and turkey. Ducks and geese are categorized as heavy, medium and light breeds.
A variety of prizes, including premiums, trophies and rosettes will be awarded to winners of various categories.
