Quilting teacher TECLA will be presented the Gloria Molina Special Achievement Award in Quilting Sept. 10, opening day of the 2004 L.A. County Fair, for her dedication and commitment to the art of quilting. The Fair runs Sept. 10-26 at Fairplex. An instructor at the Fair for three years, TECLA has been in the quilting industry for more than 30. She burst onto the scene with free motion machine embroidery. Her Quilting in a Day classes are extremely popular at the Fair. She also teaches at other locations, including at Pomona Adult Education. This is the third year the Fair has presented the Gloria Molina Special Achievement Award, named after the Los Angeles County Supervisor who enjoys quilting. Fairplex is in Molina’s district. She will present the award between 10:45 and 11:30 a.m. “Quilting creates a circle of friends and I want to encourage others to join TECLA’s and my passion,” said Molina.
