COMBAT ROBOT CRAZE COMES TO FAIRPLEX WITH STEEL CONFLICT
The area’s first major local combat robot tournament is coming to Fairplex. “Steel Conflict – Robots with Attitude” will bulldoze into Fairplex on Aug. 24 and 25. One hundred Southern California robots and their builders will be on hand for intense combat robot action.
Steel Conflict founder and promoter Steve Brown said he is excited to present the inaugural tournament in Fairplex 5.
“This new sport is huge and growing every day. The largest gathering of combat robot builders is right here in southern California, yet so far there isn’t a local tournament for these guys to do battle. We’re changing all that.”
Combat robots are made of aluminum, Kevlar, titanium, bulletproof Plexiglas and steel. They’re loaded with weapons used to annihilate their opponents, including hammers and spinning blades. All robots are operated by remote control from outside the fighting arena.
Tickets are available for $15 for Aug. 24 (preliminaries) and $20 for Aug. 25 (quarters, semis and final rounds). A two-day ticket is $30. Tickets may only be purchased on the Internet at www.steelconflict.com. For more information on the event, visit the Steel Conflict Web site.
