Pomona,California --- In the region of the United States that coined the phrase “by popular demand” the 15th annual Inland Empire Auto Show’s move to Fairplex will showcase two new vehicles created by consumer request.
The Ridgeline, Honda’s inaugural truck, and the Lexus RX 400h, the world’s first gas/electric hybrid-powered luxury vehicle, will debut to the rapidly-growing market of Inland Empire motorists at California’s only spring new car show, March 30-April 3.
The biggest 2005 debut has been reserved for The Show itself, a spring Southland tradition, which has moved to Fairplex, site of the L.A. County Fair and nationally prominent automotive activity including the National Hot Rod Association WinterNationals drag racing championships.
Honda and Lexus will join domestic and foreign automotive manufacturers including General Motors, DaimlerChrysler and Nissan with exhibits noticeably increased in size from previous IEAS displays, now possible with The Show’s move down Interstate 10.
Additionally, The Show’s producer, Auto Dealer Shows,Inc. of Playa Del Rey, will provide a substantially enlarged Automotive Accessory Arcade for aftermarket vendors and a bigger “Toys to Tow” exhibit of motorcycles, ATVs , PWCs and small camper trailers.
Toys ‘R Us will sponsor the Kids Kar Show, an interactive test drive of the latest electric and pedal-powered vehicles for children age 3-9.
After 22 years of best-selling, high performance cars, Honda will deliver a long-awaited truck to showrooms this spring. The 2006 Ridgeline is a four-door, four wheel drive next-generation truck that takes utility and versatility of an open bed truck and adds a new dimension of dynamic performance, integrated styling and packaging efficiency previously unattainable in traditional body-on-frame trucks.
Among the many features of the five-passenger, half-ton Ridgeline is an exclusive and secure in-bed trunk with a volume of eight and one-half cubic feet.
The Lexus exhibit will feature the RX 400h, the first luxury vehicle with hybrid technology. The sport utility vehicle incorporates a new, advanced Hybrid Synergy Drive system that combines the 3.3 liter V6 engine with a high-torque electric drive motor-generator, plus a rear electric drive motor-generator to provide on-road all-wheel drive capability.
This 21st Century first-of-its-kind vehicle is defined as a “full hybrid” which means that it is capable of operating in electric-only or gas engine-only mode as well as a mode that combines the power of the gas engine and electric motor.
The Inland Empire Auto Show runs March 30-April 3 at Fairplex in Pomona.The Show is open March 30-April 1 from noon to 9 p.m.; April 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and April 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Tickets are $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children age 6-12 with children under
6 admitted free. Seniors age 60 and over are admitted for $6.00 on weekdays only.
