For Immediate Release
HEROES, COMMUNITIES SPOTLIGHTED AT 2005 L.A. COUNTY FAIR

Knowing the importance of modern-day heroes and community pride, the L.A. County Fair will recognize what is right in local communities during the 83rd edition of the Fair, Sept. 9 to Oct. 2 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Local heroes, along with dignitaries and city officials, will be honored during Community Days celebrations.

Nominations are being accepted for heroes, young or old, who volunteer, provide services, affect change and contribute to the quality of life without expectation of reward or recognition. A panel of former Community Heroes, Fair and Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and San Gabriel Newspaper Group representatives (who are co-sponsoring the award) will select recipients from the nominations received.

To nominate a hero, write a letter and include: 1) name of nominee and complete address and phone number 2) occupation or title of nominee 3) specific reason for nomination 4) person’s qualities and other achievements 5) civic organizations, volunteer projects and community participation 6) any other pertinent information or comments about the individual and lastly, 7) your name, address and phone number. Mail nominations no later than May 15 to Community Hero Nomination, attn: Community Relations Manager, Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, 2041 E. Fourth St., Ontario, 91764.

Besides announcing the Community Hero, Community Days will honor each respective city. Each community will have a parade in its honor. High school bands, local youth and Fair entertainment will march along the parade route with city officials, community clubs and the local hero, escorted by the historic Fairplex fire truck.
