Fairplex is the site for a fun event for the entire family June 24-26. As part of America’s Family Pet Expo, the Kid’s Aquarium contest is an element not to be missed.
With school out parents need some way to entertain their children and what better way then to let them use their creativity as they decorate an aquarium in hopes of winning a prize. Kids ages 5 –18 are encouraged to join in the fun as they decorate the inside of a 10 gallon aquarium. America’s Family Pet Expo provides the aquarium, heater, filter and everything needed for a standard aquarium. Contestants must bring in their own designing materials. After all the hustle is over, all 50 participants can take their work of art home and use it for their bubbly friends. Creations are judged by age categories.
Animal lovers will appreciate the 16th annual America’s Family Pet Expo as everything pets takes over the grounds. Educational as much as it is fun, the exhibit displays more than 1,000 animals in stage shows, competitions, demonstrations for pet products and other interactive attractions. It is not everyday that you can catch shows featuring exotic birds, pigs hamming it up, dog agility racing teams, a parade of dog breeds and a petting zoo. Iguanas, mice, goats, rabbits, miniature horses, llamas, cats and much more can be seen at the Expo.
Tons of items can be discovered for your furry friends. The Pet SuperStore offers thousands of pet products including collars, bedding, leashes and pet clothing. At Kids Korner, activities for children preschool age through grade school are sure to hold their attention. Splash Dogs, sponsored by Precise Pet Products, will bring some excitement to the day as a “dock diving” contest will determine which dog can jump the farthest. Jurassic Parties reptile display allows youngsters to hold scaly lizards and slithering snakes.
If you came looking for a pet, head over to the Pet Adoption Fair and Fashion Show of Adoptable Darlings presented by Petco Animal Supplies Inc. Local adoption agencies and rescue organizations find homes for more than 600 pets at the Pet Expo each year. Dog training classes, exotic bird shows and pony rides are a few of the exhibits and shows offered at the Expo.
Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $10, seniors $8, ages 6-12 $4 and free for ages 5 and younger. Discount coupons are available at Albertson stores in Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
